STEM-UP Festival: CNR-ISASI Brings Science to Parco Attianese

On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Parco Attianese in Pianura (via Provinciale Napoli – via Nelson Mandela, Naples) will host the “STEM-UP Festival”, the final event of the project “STEM-UP Science, Technology and Creativity”, promoted by CTG TURMED Association with the support of the Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund and carried out in collaboration with CNR-ISASI, CNR-INO, CNR-SPIN and ARIES Cooperative.

For the occasion, the public park will become a large open-air science laboratory featuring experiments, demonstrations and interactive activities led by more than one hundred students from five schools in the Campania region.

The STEM-UP project was created with the aim of bringing younger generations closer to science and technology through innovative educational approaches, hands-on laboratories, virtual reality and creative digital languages, while promoting an inclusive and participatory approach to scientific culture.

During the festival, students will present to the public the activities developed throughout the project together with researchers, tutors and educators. The experimental pathways will range from optics to electricity, including demonstrations on light propagation, reflection and refraction, the use of lenses and optical instruments, as well as activities focused on the construction and operation of simple electrical circuits.

Through guided experiments and practical activities, visitors will have the opportunity to observe physical phenomena and discover how science is part of everyday life and modern technologies. The activities will be presented directly by the students themselves, who will share their learning journey and demonstrate how the scientific method can become a tool for creativity, collaboration and active participation.

The “STEM-UP Festival” will be open to the public and will represent an important opportunity for dialogue between schools, research institutions and the local community, with the aim of promoting scientific culture and enhancing the skills developed by the participants.

The event will officially open at 10:30 a.m. with institutional greetings from representatives of CTG TURMED, ARIES Cooperative and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). This will be followed by laboratory activities and exhibition stands managed by the participating schools: the “Giovanni Falcone”, “Ferdinando Russo” and “72° Palasciano” Comprehensive Schools from Naples, the “Battipaglia Salvemini” Comprehensive Institute and the “Parmenide” Comprehensive Institute from Roccadaspide.

Alongside the school stands, visitors will also find the CNR science play area, featuring interactive activities for children and families, the ARIES laboratory space and the CTG TURMED immersive area dedicated to virtual reality experiences with 3D headsets.

“STEM UP is a pathway that connects schools, research and local communities to transform curiosity into knowledge, experience into skills, and science into a tool for inclusion, participation and future opportunities,” says Antigone Marino from CNR-ISASI.
