Short Bio

Maria Antonietta Ferrara received the degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy, in 2003. In April 2008 she got the Ph.D in Electronic Engineering with a thesis on Spontaneous and Stimulated Raman Emission on Nanostructured Silicon. Since 2008, she obtained contracts for research collaborations with the CNR, working to develop both a coherent Raman microscope and a digital holographic microscope. Since 2012, she is researcher at the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems–Unit of Naples (ISASI-Na), CNR, where she is person in charge of the Imaging and Holography Laboratory. Her research interests are in fields of digital holography, polarization sensitive digital holography, volume holographic optical elements, optical sensors, silicon optoelectronics, nonlinear integrated optics devices with particular care for the stimulated Raman scattering in nano-structured silicon, nonlinear microscopy. During her career, she gained a wide experience in biomedical optics since she has had the opportunity to collaborate with biologists and clinicians which allowed her to extend her knowledge as an electronic engineer by opening her mind to a stimulating and highly interdisciplinary dialogue.
