Dr. Giuseppe Coppola received the degree in Electronic Engineering, summa cum laude, and the Ph.D. degree from the University "Federico II" of Naples (Italy) in 1997 and 2001, respectively. Currently, he is research director at the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent System of the National Research Council (CNR). Since 2004, he has been in charge of the Optoelectronics Laboratory of that institute. From 2005 to 2012, he was a contract professor at the University of Calabria. His main research interests concern the design, fabrication and characterization of multifunctional systems (optical, electronic, fluidic) and the development of advanced imaging techniques for biological applications. On these topics he has been tutor for post-doc students, PhD students and several undergraduates. During his research activity, he has collaborated to the realization of several research projects funded by CNR, public and external institutions. He has published over 250 papers including peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has completed 7 book chapters and 8 patents (5 national and 3 international). From 2016 to 2020 he was a member of the Institute Council of the Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems (CNR). Since 2017 he has been a member of the Doctoral College of the "Mediterranea" University of Calabria. He is Senior Member of the IEEE; member of the ESA Topical Team Tissue Healing in Space Techniques for promoting and monitoring tissue repair and regeneration; member of the editorial board of: Journal of Nanoelectronics and Optoelectronics; Applied Science; Nanomanufacturing. He has served on the program/scientific committees for several international/national conferences. He is journal reviewer for EEE Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, Applied Physic Letters, Optical Engineering, Optics Express, etc.
