Stupor Quanti 2025, the wonders of Quantum Mechanics
Naples, 10 giugno 2025 – Aula Azzurra, Complesso Universitario di Monte Sant’Angelo, Via Cinthia 80126, Naples
Following the success of its first edition, Stupor Quanti returns to Naples: a full-day celebration of quantum mechanics blending scientific outreach, cutting-edge research, and inspiration for the next generation of scientists. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Aula Azzurra, Monte Sant’Angelo Campus, with a rich program aimed at a scientifically educated audience, even if not specialized in quantum physics.
The highlight of the event will be the Stupor Quanti Lecture, delivered this year by one of the most renowned international voices in the field: Francesca Ferlaino, Professor at the Institute of Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck and Scientific Director of the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Next, the spotlight will turn to emerging talent with the Iuvenum Quanta lecture.
The event will conclude with a roundtable discussion moderated by Antigone Marino (CNR-ISASI), featuring an intergenerational dialogue on research, academic careers, and the future of quantum science. Panelists include:

- Gaia Raffaella Greco (CNR ICAR – Naples)
- Fedele Lizzi (University of Naples Federico II)
- Alessandro Zavatta (QTI – Florence)
The day will open with institutional greetings from Gennaro Miele, Director of the Department of Physics “Ettore Pancini” at the University of Naples Federico II, followed by an overview of quantum education at UNINA and research at the CNR, presented by Alioscia Hamma (UNINA) and Antigone Marino (CNR-ISASI).
Stupor Quanti II is organized by the Department of Physics of the University of Naples Federico II, in collaboration with INFN Naples and CNR, as part of the initiatives marking the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology proclaimed by UNESCO.
