The nineteenth edition of the Genoa Science Festival was held from 21 October to 1 November and had the theme “Maps”. The program featured 212 events, among which 131 lectures, 42 workshops, 8 performances, 13 special events, and 17 exhibits. One of the exhibits was “Mi Illudo di Immenso: a journey into the science of optical illusions” ideated by ISASI expressly to participate in this edition of the Festival (optical illusions are used to understand neuro-cerebral maps). For the occasion, ISASI created 21 large panels (100 * 100cm) that illustrate 20 illusions + 1. In fact, the first optical illusion is hidden in the title panel. Captions in Italian and English explain in exact scientific terms how and why each of the illusions makes fun of us and remind us that the term illusions has its root in the term ludos, game in Latin.
The Festival registered the participation of more than 50 thousand people, including 13 thousand students.
