Quantum Nexus

Quantum Nexus

On March 4, the opening event of Quantum Nexus was held in the Archimede room of CittĂ  della Scienza in Naples, a series of meetings related to art and science, organized by the Idis Foundation, the Eudora association and the Morra Foundation in collaboration with scientific institutions, including the National Research Council (CNR) with the three institutes of the Department of Physical Sciences and Material Technologies ISASI, INO and SPIN, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Federico II University of Naples and the University of Campania Vanvitelli.

The synergy between art and science can lead to surprising results. Art can inspire science to new insights, and science can provide art with new tools and techniques. Both disciplines try to understand the world around us, albeit with different languages and methods. Art, through creative expression, allows us to explore emotions, intuitions and imagination. It helps us see the world with new eyes and shape new possibilities. Science, through the scientific method, allows us to analyze the world in an objective and rational way, helps us understand the laws that govern the universe and develop new technologies.

The Quantum Nexus wants to involve the city of Naples and the Campania Region with their cultural institutions, both scientific, humanistic and museums, and wants to extend to the whole of Italy and then on an international scale, also in preparation for a final event to be held in a symbolic place of the integration of tradition and innovation in 2025, proclaimed by UNESCO as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

The opening of this series of meetings could not fail to start with the symbolic figures of two great scientists, forerunners of the new awareness that is spreading: Antonio Barone (ISASI director from 1977 to 1991) and Vittorio Silvestrini. To celebrate their important scientific work, numerous interlocutors participated in this first appointment: Enzo Iarocci, former INFN President; Stefano Fabris, Director of the Department of Physical Sciences and Material Technologies of the CNR; Francesco Cataliotti, Director of the National Institute of Optics (CNR-INO); Ivo Rendina, Director of the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems (CNR-ISASI); Simona Mosca, Maria Parisi, Antigone Marino, Enzo Cuomo, Berardo Ruggiero and Francesco Tafuri.

The next Quantum Nexus event will be held in CittĂ  della Scienza (Sala Newton) on 22 April 2024.
