School of Astroparticles 2022

School of Astroparticles 2022

On May 12, the final ceremony of the 5th Edition of “School of astroparticles – Traveling towards modern physics” was held in the Ciliberto Auditorium at the Monte Sant’Angelo campus of Federico II University.

14 schools participated in the fifth edition, for a total of 320 students and 16 projects, presented during the ceremony with slides that included, in some cases, didactic experiments, models, videos, scientific and dissemination articles.

The topics covered range from open questions on the origins, structure and evolution of the universe; to environmental radioactivity, optics, nanotechnologies, and nuclear physics; to the technical aspects related to the development of particle detectors; to gender in science.

The initiative is part of a PCTO (an acronym for Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation) in which Universities, Research Bodies, and High Schools in our Territory synergistically participated to promote the employment potential of the Physicist professional figure.

ISASI followed two classes in collaboration with the “Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca” state high school in Naples. Simona de Luca tutored the VESA class of Prof. Roberto Balassone with a project on holography. Antigone Marino followed the class IIIAs of Prof. Massimo Curcio with a project on Light and Nanotechnologies.

ISASI director Ivo Rendina, and the Director of the Italian Physics Society Antigone Marino, took part in the final event. Most interesting was the speech by Giancarlo Artiano, of the Vanvitelli University, on: “The role of physics in formal and informal contexts: a path between research, teaching and scientific dissemination.”

Ilaria Rea, Alessio Crescitelli, Principia Dardano, Maurizio Casalino, Mario Iodice, Giuseppe Coppola, Luca De Stefano, Bruno Miranda and Giovanna Chianese, coordinated by Antonella Ferrara also took part to the realization of ISASI scientific activities.
