PROJECT PO FESR 2014-2020 POR CAMPANIA “SERSCov”

Last Monday, April 24, within the International Conference SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics, Optical Sensors 2023, held in Prague, Dr. Massimo Rippa of the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems “E. Caianiello” of the CNR (ISASI-CNR) presented some relevant results of the project “Sers-Cov: Advanced Nanobiosensing platforms for POC diagnostics and surveillance”, coordinated by Dr. Lucia Petti, ISASI-CNR researcher, and in collaboration/partnership with Dr. Giovanna Fusco, Director of the UOC Virology of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Southern Italy, and financed through the POR CAMPANIA FESR 2014 – 2020 (CUP B53C22003100002). The idea behind the following study is to use biophotonics/bioplasmonics for the establishment of a new technological platform through which to carry out immediate and highly sensitive qualitative-quantitative measurements for the detection of SarsCov2 in complex matrices. This project in particular is dedicated to the development and validation of a diagnostic system which, exploiting the use of vibrational optical spectroscopy (SERS-Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy) and, the use of both innovative materials engineered by the CNR group, defined as metasurfaces ” HyperMeta enantiomeric molecules” and self-assembled monolayers of gold nanoparticles obtained with a bottom-up synthesis strategy, targets to evaluate the presence of the SARS Covid virus in a specific way. Upcoming appointments for the dissemination of the ongoing research are at the International conference “Novel Optical Materials and Applications- NOMA 2013” in Cetraro from 4 to 10 June, and at the International conference “13th International Conference on Metamaterials, Photonic Crystals and Plasmonics-META2023” in the special session “Plasmonic Nanomaterials for Bio-diagnostics, Environmental Monitoring and Food Safety” organized and directed by Lucia Petti and Massimo Rippa in Paris from 18 to 21 July.
